(11 days, 12 nights)
For several years, we made annual visits to the beautiful Canadian
Maritimes provinces while hosting groups with the former AMA Tours.
But it has been a while since our last trip there, so we have decided
that we are long overdue for a return visit! Our new tour for 2025 will
take us back to Nova Scotia, including Cape Breton Island, and Prince
Edward Island.
So, if you are interested in joining us for this trip, you may want to
consider sending in your deposit before too long, because as always,
our spaces are limited, and sometimes these trips can fill up quickly.
Deposit information is shown further below.
Overview and Itinerary
Here is a quick overview and itinerary of what we envision for The
Canadian Maritimes Motorcycle Expedition 2025:
Arrival Day - Monday, June 23rd - Bar Harbor, Maine - We will have
our first lodging night together in the scenic, famous coastal village of
Bar Harbor, with our opening night dinner in town there.
Day 1 - Tuesday, June 24th - Bar Harbor, ME to Yarmouth, Nova Scotia
- On this morning, we will have several free hours to explore one of the
places that Bar Harbor, ME is known for... Acadia National Park. Later
that afternoon, we'll board the high-speed Cat Ferry that will take on
the three-hour ocean trip to Yarmouth, Nova Scotia, where we will stay
for the night.
Day 2 - Wednesday, June 25th - Yarmouth, NS to Halifax, NS - We'll
explore many miles of Nova Scotia's scenic, southern coast, passing
through countless fishing villages and historic towns. A visit to historic
Lunenberg and picturesque Peggy's Cove are a must before we roll into
the Halifax area, where we'll spend two (2) nights.
Day 3 - Thursday, June 26th - Free Day in Halifax, NS - Today we get a
full day to explore the culture and history of Nova Scotia's capitol city,
where there are more attractions than we'll have time to see. Some
possibilities are the amazing British Citadel Fortress, the Maritime
Museum of the Atlantic (which includes Titanic artifacts), and the
numerous shops and restaurants along the harbor's historic
waterfront. Our lodge will be right in the downtown area, to provide
easy access to this city's numerous attractions.
Day 4 - Friday, June 27th - Halifax, NS to Sydney, NS - Cape Breton
Island - This day takes us farther eastbound along the southern coast,
through many more friendly fishing villages, and across the Canso
Causeway onto Cape Breton Island. We will spend three (3) nights in
Sydney on Cape Breton Island.
Day 5 - Saturday, June 28th - Free Day #1 in the Sydney/Cape Breton
Island, NS Region - Sydney offers us the perfect launching point to
allow us to either ride north onto the world-famous Cabot Trail, or
possibly head south for a visit to the historic French Fortress of
Louisbourg. Interior sections of the Cabot Trail route will make us feel
like we are riding through the Appalachian Mountains region in the
southeastern USA. Will one Free Day be enough for Cape Breton
Island? Okay, let's stay another night!
Day 6 - Sunday, June 29th - Free Day #2 in the Sydney/Cape Breton
Island, NS Region - If you didn't ride the Cabot Trail yesterday, maybe
today is your day to do it? Maybe you want to simply explore Sydney
and its waterfront area? Our lodge there is right in the middle of town.
Or perhaps if you didn't do it yesterday, you'll want to take an easy ride
to the southern region of Cape Breton Island to visit the famous,
historic French Fortress of Louisbourg, which was constructed way back
in 1745.
Day 7 - Monday, June 30th - Sydney, NS to Charlottetown, Prince
Edward Island - We will trade one beautiful island for another one on
this day. Crossing back onto the Nova Scotia mainland from Cape
Breton Island, we will head west along Nova Scotia's north coast along
the Northumberland Strait. Before long, we'll be on a ferry that will
take us on a 75-minute voyage across the Strait and onto famous Prince
Edward Island (P.E.I.), where we will spend three (3) nights. Did you
know that P.E.I. is actually its very own Canadian Province, and it is the
smallest one in all of Canada?
Day 8 - Tuesday, July 1st - Free Day #1 in Charlottetown, P.E.I. - Today,
let's explore and discover P.E.I. on our motorcycles! Many small,
winding roads crisscross the island and follow its coastlines, leading us
into countless small towns and villages. There are too many options to
list, and again, the question to be asked is, will one Free Day be enough
for us on P.E.I.? Okay, let's stay another night!
Day 9 - Wednesday, July 2nd - Free Day #2 in Charlottetown, P.E.I. -
We get another Free Day on P.E.I to continue to explore the island and
see whatever we may have missed yesterday. Maybe today is an easy
day with less riding time and more time wandering around the main
town?
Day 10 - Thursday, July 3rd - Charlottetown, P.E.I. to Wolfville, NS -
Leaving Charlottetown, we will ride the eight (8) mile long
Confederation Bridge, one of Canada's most well-known engineering
marvels. This will bring us briefly into the province of New Brunswick,
before we ride back into Nova Scotia for a loop around a portion of the
world-famous Bay of Fundy - the location of some of the largest tidal
variances in the world. We will end up in the small village of Wolfville
for the evening at a friendly lodge that we used to visit during many
previous years' tours through Nova Scotia.
Day 11 - Friday, July 4th - Wolfville, NS to Yarmouth, NS - We can
celebrate our U.S. Independence Day by using our motorcycles to
meander along Nova Scotia, Canada's north coast adjacent to the Bay
of Fundy. A relaxing, lower mileage day allows plenty of opportunities
to stop, explore and sightsee. We'll arrive back in Yarmouth for the
evening and our Farewell Dinner, completing our amazing loop of Nova
Scotia/P.E.I.
Departure Day - Saturday, July 5th - Yarmouth, NS to Bar Harbor, ME -
We will leave Yarmouth, NS aboard the morning's Cat Ferry for the
three-hour ocean voyage back to Maine, USA. Once the ferry arrives in
Bar Harbor around mid-day, we are now back on our own, individual
riding adventures as we make our way home, or to wherever the open
roads lead us!
(Please note that the above itinerary may be subject to change.)
